What are the different time windows for an authorization holds?

Hi there, does anyone know what the different time windows are for an authorization hold to expire and/or get released?

Hello @Kbandar , typically authorization holds are released automatically by Marqeta system 7/9 days after the original authorization. However there are a few merchant groups (for example hotels, airlines, car rentals etc) that have an additional configuration of holding the authorization for 30 days.

Having said that, it is possible to configure the time window for an authorization hold to expire or get released, per program's requirement, to be something other than the usual 7/9 days if the use case is justified.

Auth hold varies per merchant.

For example hotel, airlines, etc. typically have 7 days hold whereas gas station type holds are typically released in 2-3 hours.
